Guatemala: Drought Affects 53.227 Families

Guatemala. A total of 53.227 families from 979 communities were affected by drought during 2012 in Guatemala. The absence of rain during an extended canicula (canicula: dry spell during the rainy season) in the last months has caused Q83 millions, ($ 1.03 million) of losses in food production, according to statements made by President Otto Perez Molina.
